I have always said that living in Boalsburg is like living in a Norman Rockwell painting. It is a quaint small town with enormous civic pride and a long cultural and historic heritage. That said, like any town, there are a number of opposing philosophies and opinions and occasional arguments regarding the future.
I have recently volunteered to serve on the steering committee of a “Small Area Plan” to study the proposed future of Boalsburg Village and environs. It is a mix of folks, some more interested in history, some in neighborhoods some “professional” planners and architects and, it seems that I am the only local business representative.
Unlike most of America, the prevailing sentiment in the committee seems to be maintaining the status quo rather than moving forward and improving upon the village and the township. As one who has been trained to think out of the box and look for innovation and progress..this is difficult. On the other hand, this is a chance to test my own theories of progress..perhaps one CAN be happy with the status quo…stay tuned.
